Poor Man's Recycler

This is a plan for using a basic cheap components to build a very good high capacity recycler.

This plan calls for the following components.

  • A 10 inch wide stream sluice.

  • A sluice frame made of 1 inch PVC.

  • A header box to spread out the flow of water from the pump.

  • A gas or electric water pump. ( If electric needs to have a minimum of 2000GPH )

  • Two plastic tubs from Wall-Mart or K-Mart.

  • Two ABS 2" tank adapters, a 2" ABS angle adapter, three short pieces of 2" ABS pipe.

  • Two 1/4 inch I bolts with washers and nuts.

  • About 24" of 1/2 inch electrical tubing or a 1/2 inch wood dowel.

  • A wire screen basket. I used a JOBE 20 mesh classifier.

  • A plastic bucket, like a 3 1/2 gallon paint bucket, for tailings.

  • A pile of dirt about 8" high to set one of the tubs higher than the other.

Printable version of plans.
These plastic tubs usually have rope handles. Cut these off one of the tubs and use the holes to attach the two I bolts so that the 1/2 inch rod can be inserted into them to support the sluice stand. When you build your sluice stand put tees on the bottom of the legs and use the hole through the tees to insert the 1/2 inch rod.
